Edge opens today’s show by informing that he’s suffering from a form of vertigo at the moment. He’s quite dizzy but he’s working through it.
Edge and Christian were happy to see Mustafa Ali work a match with Daniel Bryan on Smackdown this past week. Edge thinks Ali has a Rey Mysterio-like appeal to him, adding that Ali appeals to multiple sections of the WWE Universe. Christian agrees, pointing out that there’s a lot of talent on 205 Live, and Ali’s opportunity this week proves that if you work hard for that brand there’s room for promotion.

Christian also points out that it’s amazing what Daniel Bryan has achieved since WrestleMania this past year. To return from serious injury like Bryan did, and then to turn heel and introduce us to this brand new side of the character has been tremendous.
Edge and Christian thought Charlotte and Asuka had a great match on Smackdown this week. Edge notes that those two women have great chemistry together, and it’s great to see that WWE is finally getting Asuka back to where she needs to be on the card.

Edge thinks Drew McIntyre can be a guy that WWE relies on for the next several years. Christian agrees, adding that McIntyre can be a great heel for a while and then eventually the fans will start to like him. McIntyre also has that “special thing” where he won’t have to change anything about his style in order to switch from heel to babyface, similar to guys like Orton or Austin. Edge thinks the sky’s the limit for him.
Looking at the babyface roster right now, Edge thinks Seth Rollins needs to be “The Guy”. Rollins has really figured out how to be a top babyface and he never seems to have a bad match.

Edge and Christian point out that there are two TLC matches on the show this Sunday. Edge mentions that singles matches are very tough to put together, and that might be particularly evident in the match between Braun Strowman and Baron Corbin. That match features two big men, and it should be interesting to see how they put it together.
Edge & Christian welcome Becky Lynch to the show.
Edge points out that Lynch will be a part of the first ever women’s TLC match this Sunday. Lynch has been a part of a lot of “first evers” for women this past year, and she admits that it feels pretty special. This is why she started wrestling many years ago, and she informs that she calls herself “The Man” because she’s been making history ever since she stepped foot in WWE.

Lynch informs that even when she struggled and couldn’t find ways to win, she didn’t think she lost the fans at all. Even though she wasn’t really giving the fans a reason to rally behind her they still loved her and she loved them. Now that things have turned around and she’s on the top of the mountain, the fans who always liked her quickly rallied behind her and created this special connection that we see today.

As disappointed as Lynch was about having to step aside at Survivor Series, Edge thinks it was a blessing in disguise because now he thinks Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey is a WrestleMania main event in the making. Lynch agrees that her and Rousey could, and maybe even should main event WrestleMania because she doesn’t think there are two other Superstars in WWE right now that have that level of momentum or fan support. She challenges other Superstars step up and take that mantel away.
Lynch speaks highly of Rousey. She thinks Rousey was the main factor in UFC embracing women’s MMA. She also points out that Rousey has picked up professional wrestling quicker than anyone she’s ever seen, maybe except for Kurt Angle.

Lynch notes that heading into Evolution she had predicted that it would be the PPV of the year. She’d argue that she was correct in that prediction, as she thought everyone knocked it out of the park. She thinks she had the match of the night that night, and she adds that she doesn’t want to apologize for her opportunities or success anymore.
Lynch informs that she moved to Canada as a teenager because she thought there was a flourishing indie scene there. Unfortunately that wasn’t quite the case, and her first match paid her $30. She struggled to pay her rent and slept on friends’ couches for a while. She eventually lined up a tour of Japan with Natalya, which paid her $1000 and she thought she was rich.

After some time her work Visa expired and she returned home. She was only 19 but she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. She stepped away from the wrestling business and received a call to do stunt work on the show “Vikings”. She went back to wrestling school to prepare for the stunt work and this reinvigorated her love for the business. She hasn’t looked back since.
That sums up this week’s episode of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
