SmackDown Live Superstar Sin Cara has been out of action since August with a knee injury that ultimately required surgery. As Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now confirmed, Cara has been cleared to return to action for WWE’s blue brand.
According to Johnson, Cara has been at the WWE Performance Center getting ready for his official return to the ring. This is likely an attempt by Cara to ensure he has no ring rust when he returns to active competition. For most competitors, this is a necessary step to ensure they don’t risk injuring others inside the squared circle.
At the time Cara was written off television, he was feuding with the up-and-coming Andrade “Cien” Almas on SmackDown Live. Given that Almas’ progress has stalled in recent weeks with little in the way of storyline, Cara’s return could signal an interesting rivalry over the coming weeks and potentially months.
It is important to note that no exact date for Cara’s return is known at this time. He may be ready to compete, but WWE may film the remainder of the year without an appearance from the luchador.
