Trish Stratus and Lita recently spoke to Ring The Belle where they ran down fans’ top five Team Bestie moments. They listed a few famous events including their main event match on RAW and Lita’s retirement tirade.
When Lita was forced to retire, she launched into a heel promo as she exited the company. This was something she wasn’t shy about voicing her disapproval of and revealed that she went to everyone she could before finally relenting and doing the segment as planned.
“I mean I’ve always been the red-headed stepchild and [my career] wasn’t going to end any different way […] I’m literally the red-headed stepchild, but that’s okay.”
“I was never quiet about it, I was super uncool with it. I went up the chain, I went to the producers, I went to the writers, I went to Vince. I went back to the producers, back to the writers, back to Vince… it was a hard no.”
It wasn’t how Lita wanted to go out, but it’s how things needed to happen at the time. Now she is back in the WWE fold and after Team Bestie’s last run, you never know where they will pop up next.
Bayley and Sasha Banks namedropping them on RAW this week really gave off the impression that we might be seeing them again soon enough.
