WWE’s Women’s Division has gone through many changes in the past couple of years. At this point in history, we have not only seen the first-ever women’s Hell In A Cell, Royal Rumble, and Money In The Bank match, but WWE Evolution was the company’s historic first-ever all women’s pay-per-view.
Not only have the women in WWE experienced some great opportunities, but they also received a name change. They are no longer known as Divas, they are now Superstars along with the rest of the roster.
Despite going from Divas to Superstars, the Total Divas show did not receive a facelift too. Natalya recently spoke to TheWrap where she revealed that there are actually rumblings to make a change to the Total Divas name as well.

“You know, I’m not sure actually. I’ve heard different rumblings. I’ve heard that, you know, Nikki Bella had talked about it openly and said, you know, she wanted to change the name, and that we should go from ‘Divas’ to something else.”
“But it’s tough because, the way I look at it is, yes, in WWE we’re not called Divas anymore, we’re called Superstars. But ‘Total Divas’ is such a popular show that, would the mainstream audience understand if we changed the name? But at the same time, I always think change is good and I think it could be a unique dynamic to take the fans, you know, on a journey where we do change the name. It just depends, the stars have to align. And I also, you know, I think the most important part is keeping the show authentic. Keeping it real and true to what it’s always been, and that really starts with the cast.”

When you’re considering renaming a show, it can be tricky especially if that show is in its seventh season and counting like Total Divas. There is a certain brand which is established and those aren’t easy to come by. Therefore, it might take some clever maneuvering to change the Total Divas name, but it could always happen.
Nikki Bella is not only a star of Total Divas, but she is also one of the show’s executive producers. Therefore, if anyone is going to accomplish a name change, Nikki might be the right woman to get the ball rolling.
