Impact Wrestling has had a lot of trouble with network stability over the past few years. Declining viewers, problems with talent and management alike, and several other factors have led to so many alterations. For a product that prides itself on being weekly, the timeslot changes and uncertainty surrounding the product can be overwhelming.
Mike Johnson over at PWInsider has confirmed that Impact has reached a deal with PopTV- but not the deal you’d expect. The contract between PopTV and Impact Wrestling ends on December 31, though PopTV will continue to air episodes of Impact Wrestling until the company can find a new home for their weekly shows within the United States.
During a media call involving Josh Matthews yesterday, he declined to add any comments to the search. The most he did was reference the idea that people think Impact Wrestling will end, and said the company would work together to ensure there is a future.
It remains to be seen where Impact Wrestling does go moving forward. They’ve been tried and tested on multiple networks over the past few years, and with viewership continuing to decline, it makes the journey to signing a new deal even harder than before.
