Austin Aries was the top champion in Impact Wrestling and then after Slammiversary, he just seemed to drop the title to Johnny Impact and then A Double no-sold the Starship Pain finisher and walked to the back while cussing out Don Callis. But apparently, the door isn’t closed on Aries and Impact Wrestling.
Aries was actually backstage at the recent set of television tapings for Impact Wrestling, but The Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentioned that the only reason he was there was out of convenience.
Austin Aries lives in Las Vegas, so he simply stopped by to hang out a little bit. It was reported that he simply showed up, talked to people backstage, and he was apparently very nice to everyone as well. It was noted that there is currently no plan to bring Austin Aries back to Impact Wrestling but you can never fully close any door in pro wrestling.
It was said that Austin Aries is “not the easiest to work with but he’s got a ton of talent.” Of course, Austin has been feeding his trolls on social media in a big way recently which led some to believe leaving Impact Wrestling might have been part of a work. But apparently, it was a very real situation and Aries is no longer under contract. But it’s still nice to know he’s welcome backstage.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
