Bobby Lashley’s return to WWE wasn’t met with the reaction that some would have hoped. After all, he didn’t get much hype and just appeared expecting people to remember him.
It’s been noted before how Lashley works better as a heel because WWE’s version of playing a babyface involves a lot of selling and that’s not something people want to see Lashley do because he can’t really pull off that sympathy character being a huge guy like he is.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that the decision to turn Bobby Lashley heel was actually made that day. They had a discussion backstage on whether Lashley would be better off as a heel and for a number of reasons including the fact that they need bad guys since they’re losing Kevin Owens due to injury, Lashley was turned into a heel.
The thought was to get the heel turn down right away because they already need another heel with KO going on the shelf for an undetermined amount of time due to injury.
