WWE puts their championships on someone for many different reasons. Sometimes it is rumored that WWE even allows their current champions to break certain records on purpose. New Day broke Demolition’s streak for longest-running WWE Tag Team Champions last year and many people thought it had to do with the fact that Demolition was involved in a lawsuit against WWE. Now Cedric Alexander is on the heels of breaking Neville’s record as longest-running WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and it could be for an interesting reason as well.
If Alexander can survive Buddy Murphy’s challenge for his title at WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne Australia on October 6th, he will most likely be set to break the previous record held by Neville.
Of course, The King Of The Cruiserweights, Neville took off from WWE after he refused to job to Enzo Amore. This resulted in a very short run for Kalisto, but maybe WWE wants to get that record off of someone who isn’t around anymore?
Right now, Cedric Alexander is only 25 days away from breaking Neville’s record of 197 days.  Only time will tell if he pulls it off, but if he does it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise Then again, Alexander will also have to defeat Murphy in his hometown to make it happen. So this could be very interesting.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
