WWE has seen some additions recently in the form of male managers popping up. In a day where it was said Vince McMahon had soured on the idea of having managers in general, this was very interesting. But the fact is that some Superstars are just better with a mouthpiece by their side.
Drake Maverick and Lio Rush were both brought over from their respective 205 Live brand to manger Superstars. AOP received Maverick and Bobby Lashley now has Lio Rush tagging around him in what could develop into a very entertaining buddy comedy.
Mike Johnson stated on PW Insider Elite’s audio update that WWE decided on using these guys as managers for different reasons, but one of them turned out to be hard work on social media just paying off.

“In the case of Drake Maverick, the decision was made that they wanted a manager or they wanted a mouthpiece for Authors Of Pain.”
“In the case of Lio Rush I was told that someone in creative saw some promos that he cut on Twitter and brought it to the attention of WWE management and said, ‘look at this guy, look at what he’s doing on his own. Imagine if we channeled that and used him in a specific role.”

It was noted that those 2 talents were tapped for that reason. It looks like Lio Rush’s hard work making online promos turned out for the best whereas, Drake Maverick was seemingly the perfect Brit for the job to lead the AOP monsters into battle.
