Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of Hell In A Cell 2018!
Tonight’s main event sees Braun Strowman face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. This huge match takes place inside the Hell In A Cell structure, which has been given a fresh lick of paint for tonight’s show, and Mick Foley will be the special guest referee. This marks Reigns’ first PPV title defence and he may never face a bigger one than Strowman. Will both men get to slug it out and see who wins? Or will both man’s posse come out to help?
Also within a Hell In A Cell tonight, is Jeff Hardy Vs. Randy Orton. This feud hasn’t been the most exciting one but these two veterans facing off inside the cell should be a fascinating watch. Hopefully Jeff doesn’t feel the need to kill himself to entertain us but he has said this is one of the few reasons he wanted to come back to WWE in the first place, so we’ll see what he has planned.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, you’ll find Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose Vs. Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre, Samoa Joe Vs. AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, Ronda Rousey Vs. Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship, whereas the SmackDown Women’s Championship will be contested between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. All that and more on tonight’s Hell In A Cell PPV! Remember to follow us on Instagram, download the Ringside News app, and enjoy the show!

Kick-Off Show

The Hell In A Cell 2018 Kick-Off Show begins with the panel of Johnathon Coachman, Paige, Booker T, and Peter Rosenberg. Coach has replaced Renee Young, as she’s now on the Raw commentary team. The panel discuss the hell the Superstars will go through tonight. Booker says he wakes up every morning at 9 and he feels great, and it’s because he never took part in a match like this.
We see a video package for Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Paige says she’s never seen Becky like this and she will give Charlotte the match of her life tonight. Rosenberg says Becky needs this title to reinvigorate herself. Booker says Charlotte is goodt but she’ll have to be very good tonight.

Next up is the mixed-tag match is Daniel Bryan, Brie Bella, The Miz, and Maryse. Reosenberg says this is one of the longest running rivalries in WWE and fans are excited to see it culminate. Booker says Bryan might be too angry with The Miz. Booker says he thinks The Miz will continue his excellent year, as does Coach. While Paige and Rosenberg think the Bryan’s will take it.
David Otunga has joined the panel to discuss Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy. He talks about Jeff sticking his finger in the ear and he’s gone to that dark place. Paige announces that this match will open the PPV tonight. Rosenberg says the reason we love WWE is because we get dream matches like this. He then says Randy can’t prepare for someone like Jeff Hardy, because he doesn’t have fear. Coach thanks Paige for the announcement and turns attentions.
It’s time to talk about the WWE Championship. We see Samoa Joe’s nursery rhyme promo that covers the whole rivalry. Otunga likens this feud to the Eminem/MGK rivalry, as it’s personal about families and whatnot. Rosenberg says AJ got too emotional at SummerSlam, which could cause him again. Otunga asks if AJ is fighting for his title, or his family. Coach says that’s the brilliance of Samoa Joe’s mind games.

Next up for discussion is Alexa Bliss challenging Ronda Rousey for the Women’s Championship. Alexa appears in a split-screen interview. Coach asks her how she feels about Ronda saying she is the best. Bliss says Ronda has a huge ego and probably thinks she is the best at eating cereal and the best at turning oxygen into carbon dioxide. Paige asks Alexa how she plans on beating her. Alexa makes fun of Paige and says she left Ronda in agony last week. And the headlines will read “Ronda Rousey loses her first title defence”. Otunga goes to ask a question but Alexa says no and walks off.

Strowman grabs the steel steps and looks to hit Roman but the Champion dropkicks him. Strowman lays across the apron and Reigns hits a drive-by kick. Braun stumbles around the side of the ring and Roman looks for a Superman punch but Strowman catches him and chokeslams the Champ on the apron! Strowman then lifts the apron and pulls out a Kendo stick but that’s not what he wants. He goes back under and grabs a chair but Reigns has the Kendo stick and beats on Braun until it breaks.

They get back into the ring and Roman betas Braun around with the chair. Strowman finally grabs the chair and shrugs Roman off, then runs at Reigns in the corner but nobody’s home and he spears the ring post. Roman hits a DDT on the steel chair but it barely scores a two count. Roman then runs and hits a Superman punch but Braun doesn’t fall. Roman hits another and Strowman doesn’t go down. He looks for a third but Braun catches him and lands a chokeslam for a two count – Foley counted a little bit too fast and almost got a three count.
Braun lifts Roman up but the big dog drops down and kicks him. Roman connects with a third Superman punch that floors Braun for a near-fall. Strowman rolls from the ring, so Reigns slides out and grabs a table from under the ring. After sliding the table into the ring, Roman “oooohhaaaa’s”, runs around three corners of the ring to Spear Braun but instead he gets clocked with the steel steps! Strowman throws the steps into the ring and hits Roman with them again for a very close two count.
Strowman lifts the steps again and hits Roman square in the chest as he lays on the mat, then tosses them out of the ring. Strowman lifts Reigns up by the vest, gets him on his shoulders and hits a running powerslam but Roman kicks out! Strowman is frustrated, so he decides to set-up the table in the corner. He lifts Roman for another running powerslam but Roman gets down and hits two more Superman punches, followed by a Spear through the table! He pins but Braun kicks out! That’s five Superman punches, if you’re counting.
