Coming out of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4, many have speculated that former NXT Tag Team Champion Johnny Gargano is suffering from some variation of an injury. We now have confirmation on what exactly is happening with the beloved Superstar.

During the post-show for TakeOver, Triple H had the following comments to make about Gargano:

“Clearly I wasn’t planning on Gargano injuring himself in the last sequence of that match. Did it play into it? Yeah. Technically it was supposed to go slightly differently than it all did. We kinda had to make a call on the fly and change a few things in the actual moment. So it ends up being different because only the people putting it together know what they were doing and that’s the beauty of what we do and they get there.”

This led many to speculate that Gargano was suffering some sort of knee injury, given the Superstar had been holding onto that area of his body in the closing moments of the WWE Network special. We also previously reported that he could have been suffering a shoulder injury.

To add a spanner into the works, Gargano worked the NXT TV tapings, which we have spoilers for here. Without spoiling that, it is clear from those tapings he is not injured.

In addition to this, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the Gargano vs. Ciampa match went exactly as planned. WWE employees have admitted that it was an angle, and Triple H allowed people to feed into the mindset that Gargano was injured. They did a similar angle with Lars Sullivan following his loss to Aleister Black earlier this year.

Which of the three Ciampa vs. Gargano matches has been your favorite? Are you still enjoying the feud? Let us know in the comments down below.
