Ahhyessir, Summerslam just happened, and what an event it was. It was definitely something. Lots of stuff happened, that’s for sure. Some stuff was more important than others, though, that’s for sure. I mean, more people care about the WWE Championship than the Cruiserweight Championship. It’s unfortunate, but it’s life.

So out of all the things to have happened, which will make the biggest impact? Here are four big talking points from Summerslam.

the becky lynch heel turn

Personally, it’s hard not to justify Becky Lynch being angry. I feel like each of us can personally relate to what just happened to Becky at Summerslam. It’s happened to most, if not all of us. Maybe not exactly what Becky went through, but you get my point.

Point is, Becky Lynch is now a heel. Whether or not you agree with it (I personally don’t, but whatever) is another discussion entirely. What matters is that Becky Lynch has now sided with the forces of evil.

This greatly affects the power balance in Smackdown’s women’s division. Becky Lynch is now the top heel of Smackdown’s women’s division, and it’s all because Charlotte had the audacity to win at Summerslam.

It will be interesting to see where the story goes. Does Becky acknowledge that what she did was wrong and admit that she acted out of character? Or does she lean into her newfound dark side? Only time will tell so far, and with Evolution coming up soon, everyone is probably curious to see what’s up.

the miz beats daniel bryan

I know many people are probably upset that the Miz won, but I guess that’s what it means to be a top heel. I mean, Miz cheated, so no harm, no foul. It’s not like he beat Bryan in 18 seconds. He escaped by the skin of his teeth. It’s all good.

The story doesn’t end just here. It’s still got mileage. Again, it will be interesting to see where this whole thing goes. I’ve written a whole article about this topic, but I won’t get into it too much. But it is entirely feasible to stretch this whole thing out to Wrestlemania. Just don’t have them fight at every PPV.

Daniel Bryan’s loss at Summerslam will eat at him. Technically, Miz proved him wrong. Daniel Bryan, for all his tough talk, lost. It doesn’t matter that Miz cheated. It won’t say that in the record books. They’ll just say that Miz won at Summerslam.

How will Daniel Bryan deal with this loss? And how will Miz ride his newfound momentum? We shall see what we shall see.

aj styles loses his temper again

What an awesome visual we got at the WWE Championship match at Summerslam. AJ Styles, with blood on his face and hatred in his eyes, unleashing his pent up rage on Samoa Joe. Once again, AJ has lost control. And he will pay the price for it.

Samoa Joe got under the skin of his opponent at Summerslam. He got what he wanted, but has he bitten off more than he can chew? If these men were angry before, who knows what kind of mood they’re in now? AJ had his honor and his family insulted. Samoa Joe was cheated out of the WWE Championship. Not comparable, really, but it doesn’t change the fact that both men are decidedly apoplectic.

I feel like if any potential matches next month warrant a Hell in a Cell stipulation, this could be it. This goes beyond “hey that’s my championship.” This has become a deeply personal feud. Over the next few weeks it could devolve into a straight blood feud. I’m excited to see where this thing goes.

roman reigns is universal champion  (finally)

About damn time. The logjam at the top of Raw’s card is now gone. The birds are singing, and the children are playing in the streets. Raw has a top champion once again.

Sure, people are probably complaining that it’s Roman Reigns, but at least there’s a full time champion now. And absence makes the heart grow fonder, so this will work out for Brock as well. Give it a few months, and people will be cheering him again.

So who will step up to face Roman Reigns? There are so many options. Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Bobby Lashley, and Braun Strowman are all potential challengers waiting in the wings. Then there’s the matter of Braun Strowman’s Money in the Bank contract (just as soon as he finds his briefcase).

Maybe the Universal Championship can start gaining some prestige. We shall see what we shall see.
