With the G1 Climax now in the rearview mirror, NJPW’s next huge PPV will be Wrestle Kingdom 13.

During the final night of the G1 Climax, the company revealed the official logo for the upcoming Wrestle Kingdom 13 show, which you can see for yourself below. In addition to this, we now know with certainty that the PPV will air on January 4, 2019 from the iconic Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

As we also previously reported, Hiroshi Tanahashi was the victor this year in the G1 Climax. From this, we can also look further into the future of NJPW. Tanahashi scored his third win in the G1 Climax- previously winning back in 2007 and 2015. He will main event the Tokyo Dome for the eighth time.

Based on his win/loss record within the G1 Climax, we now know that Jay White and Kazuchika Okada both have the opportunity to challenge Tanahashi for that contract to face the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at Wrestle Kingdom 13.

Kenny Omega himself isn’t in good shoes, either. The Champion lost to Toru Yano, Kota Ibushi, and Tomohiro Ishii within the G1 Climax. This potentially sets all three men up to challenge Omega for the Championship before Wrestle Kingdom 13.

While we believe it to be unlikely that the proverbial Wrestle Kingdom 13 main event would change from Omega vs. Tanahashi, there are a number of possibilities still possible moving forward.

In addition to this, with rumors consistently circulating in regards to WWE wanting to sign Omega, The Young Bucks, and Cody, there is the chance that Omega drops the Championship sooner than later.

What do you believe the main event for Wrestle Kingdom 13 will be? Did you watch the G1 Climax? Sound off in the comments below.
