As revealed during NXT last night, Tommaso Ciampa defeated Aleister Black in what many fans are calling an instant classic to become the fourteenth NXT Champion in the developmental brand’s history.

As fans at Full Sail University who saw the match live and those in the WWE Universe who watched NXT TV last night are aware, Johnny Gargano ultimately cost Black the NXT Championship after interfering in the bout.

As the match had been in its closing moments, Gargano took to the ring to hit a Superkick on Ciampa, preventing him from nailing Black with the NXT Championship while the referee was down. Taking the title from Ciampa’s hands, Gargano accidentally nailed Black with the belt as Black stood up behind him. Ciampa was able to throw Gargano out of the ring, nailing Black with his finisher as the referee returned to the ring.

Ciampa stood tall as the new NXT Champion to end the show, as fans in the arena started to turn against Gargano for his embarrassing attempt at aiding Black in his match against Ciampa.
