We previously revealed 2018 men’s Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura would be unable to compete last night on SmackDown Live due to police dog injury. Per PWInsider, we now have a further update to the story.

As reported, the injury Nakamura sustained involved a bite from a police dog at the arena in Bakersfield, CA. When reported, that was all known information about the incident. Further details have now been uncovered.

The law enforcement dog was actually brought around to do a pre-show security check. This is customary to ensure no threats are present. The dog was brought past Nakamura. The dog, without provocation from the former NXT Champion, proceeded to bite him on the leg.

Due to medical precautions, WWE proceeded to pull Nakamura from the SmackDown live event. Here, he was expected to work the main event Fatal Four Way bout. In place, Jeff Hardy defended his United States Championship against Samoa Joe, Rusev, and Shelton Benjamin.

It is important to note that Nakamura is not cleared at this time to return to action. He was backstage during SmackDown Live last night, but his leg was reportedly still really sore from the incident.

Depending on the extent of the bite, Nakamura could be out for the next few days. We expect him to be back at SmackDown Live next week, if not the week after.
