Billy Gunn will no longer have any issues using the “Billy Gunn” name outside of WWE.

While speaking to WSVN-TV Entertainment’s Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Superstar revealed that he now owns the rights to the name after WWE never renewed it and he is free to use it wherever he wants.

“I own it. I went an applied for the thing that said “do you wish to have this name?” and I go “Yes, forever.” No, it’s not my legal name. It’s wrestling. It’s what I have gone by for so long. If WWE owns it, I can not own it. If you use it, they can send you a cease and desist letter that says, “stop using this or we will sue you.” They’re not going to do that. They will, if the show is big enough. So, they let the name go and they never renewed it. As soon they did, my wife snatched it up quick.

For those that don’t recall, Gunn had an issue using the name in TNA after he left WWE and wasn’t allowed to use it on television because at the time WWE still owned it.
