WWE is breaking away from tradition in a few respects especially when it comes to what a Superstar is supposed to look like. The big guys have sometimes given way to smaller competitors who are better athletes, they’re just not giants.

Brad Shepard discussed Andrade Cien Almas during Backstage In WWE where he brought up one of the main problems the former NXT Champion is going to face on the main roster.

“They look short and I mean that’s the problem. Look, in NXT he was fine. On the main roster, he’s going to have to grow 3-4 inches minimum and he’s going to have to gain 30-40 pounds.”

“I just think as far as looking at his potential I think his size is going to hold him back. I mean even his jobber [on SmackDown Live] was even a similar size than him. It’s going to be a problem when he starts facing guys [who are bigger]. He’s on SmackDown granted so there are guys there who aren’t that big. If it was on Raw it would be like a really big problem. But it’s going to be interesting to see how that works.”

It was commented that Vince McMahon’s “mark son-in-law” might have been the one to bring Almas up, but he doesn’t have to look a Superstar usually needs.
