Garcia is joined on today’s show by Nia Jax.

Jax speaks about her relationship with her cousin, The Rock. She says that Rock really is a dork, and he is truly himself at all times. She thinks that’s why he’s had so much success in Hollywood, because realness translates to people. Garcia agrees entirely and says that she had so much fun working with Rock over the years. Their backstage interview segments during the attitude era will go down as some of the most entertaining segments of all time.

Jax mentions that watching The Rock wrestle at ringside at WrestleMania 28 was what really inspired her to start a career in professional wrestling. Initially she didn’t want Rock to know that she wanted to start training, but he soon caught wind of it and got her a tryout with WWE. He pointed out that professional wrestling is a tough business, and the only way to know if you’re cut out for it is to have a tryout in WWE.

As soon as she stepped into the ring and started to roll around she fell in love with it instantly. Other than head trainer, Bill DeMott, she didn’t tell anyone that she was related to Rock because she wanted to earn her opportunities based on her merits, not because she was related to Rock.

Jax adds that Tamina Snuka has had a great influence on her, and even though they’re on separate brands Tamina has still kept in touch. They both hope to meet in the ring someday, perhaps at WrestleMania, where they can show the world what they can do. She says it was great to get a taste of that when they met at Survivor Series, and she was thrilled with the crowd’s reaction to that.

Jax informs that she’s only really been in one real relationship in her life. It lasted ten years and ended right around the time that she started to work for WWE. It was an abusive relationship and her mother tried to pull her away from it, but she continuously denied it to herself. Luckily, she was able to finally get out, and now she’s focused on getting over it. She admits that it’s still tough for her to trust men.

Jax informs that she worked as a plus-sized model before beginning her professional wrestling career. She loved modelling, even though she was forced to deal with criticism regarding her body at a very young age. She truly believes that working as a model helped her prepare for other challenges she’d have to deal with later in life, and it definitely taught her that real beauty is on the inside.

She mentions that she decided to do an interview when Total Divas were casting for the new season. She didn’t think there was a chance that she’d be picked as a cast member, and she couldn’t believe it when she got the call informing her that she’d been chosen. She adds that being picked to appear on that show was a big confidence booster for her.

Garcia welcomes Alexa Bliss to the show for a guest appearance.

Bliss informs that her and Jax are best friends, and they’ve stuck together through thick and thin after meeting at WWE’s Performance Centre a few years ago. Jax mentions that she’s had issues in the past with other females on the roster such as Maryse and Lana, and some of those events played out on this season on Total Divas.

Jax says that her issues with Maryse came about simply due to miscommunication, because she can be loud at times and it takes a while for some people to adjust to that. She apologized to Maryse after the fact and she realized that they have a very similar personality. Jax says that while she might be loud, her comments always comes from a place of love.

She also made up with Lana after they had some problems, but her and Lana are different people altogether. She says that there’s a thin line between being passionate and crazy, and Lana’s very passionate. She does give credit to Lana for working very hard at becoming an in-ring worker.

Jax informs that she desperately wants to win the Women’s Title, and that’s her main goal in wrestling. She’s been in the Title picture for a while but the Title has alluded her thus far. Nonetheless, she knows it’ll happen when the time is right. Bliss says that if she’s going to lose the Women’s Title, she’d want to lose it to Jax.

That sums up today’s episode of Lillian Garcia’s Chasing Glory. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
