The panel give a quick rundown of tonight’s card, the final PPV of 2017! Speaking of the huge tag team match tonight, Renee asks if Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan can call the match down the middle. Sam and Otunga both reckon Shane will find it hard to do so because his emotions often get the better of him. We go to the Social Media Lounge, where Kalya Braxton will be joined later by The New Day.
We get a video package for Jinder Mahal Vs. AJ Styles, with interviews from both men. Styles is backstage, where he is asked if he is concerned about The Singh Brothers. Styles says they’re terrible liars and he should never have thought they had turned against Mahal. Styles says he has to be ready for anything tonight, whether it’s the most annoying brothers in the world, or the 7 foot 4 jack in the box The Great Khali. Tonight he has to be better than good, better than great, he has to be phenomenal. He got Dasha Fuentes to say phenomenal with him. Back with the panel, Sam Roberts likens Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers to Scar an the hyena’s from The Lion King. Otunga says that he thinks AJ’s confidence will carry him through. Renee asks for predictions, and both men say AJ Styles will retain because he is the best in the world.
Coming up on the Kick-Off Show, Zack Ryder takes on his former partner, Zack Ryder. From here we move to a video package for tonight’s United States Championship Triple Threat Match. The panel talk about the match and Sam Roberts says that Dolph Ziggler has become a test for newcomers to SmackDown Live, and he doesn’t want to be that anymore. Otunga thinks The Lone Wolf will retain, while Roberts thinks Bobby Roode will steal this one and emerge a star.

We get a look at the Bludgeon Brothers/Breezango feud, which the Fashion Files has been to. We see a clip of Breezango backstage, where Fandango reveals they will be facing the Bludgeon Brother’s tonight and Breeze looks horrified. They share a shaky fist bump. The panel quickly say Bludgeon Brothers across the board and move on.
We go backstage to Dasha, who is set to interview Naomi. Dasha asks Naomi if she and Charlotte are at a disadvantage tonight considering they’re the only allies in tonight’s Lumberjack match. Naomi says that her and Charlotte are used to having haters. She sends a message to the Riott “rookies” and says they will feel the glow if they get in her way again. Carmella, Lana and Tamina walk up an Carmella tells Dasha to leave. Carmella welcomes Naomi back from injury, then Lana and Tamina say that they haven’t always seen eye-to-eye but tonight they have a common enemy. Speaking of whom, Ruby and the Riott Squad walk up, and they all start bickering as referee’s separate them and we fade to a commercial.
We get a video package for the Women’s Championship Match between Natalya and Charlotte. The Champion Charlotte joins the panel and says that tonight is very different because she has a lot of threats. She says that Carmella and the Riott Squad are her biggest threats. Natalya appears and says it’s great to see everyone and her Championship. She says she hopes Charlotte gives that title one last hug because after tonight “baby’s coming home to mama.” She kisses Otunga and Roberts on the cheeks and says she has to go get ready. Charlotte says she loves Nattie’s confidence and they bid her adieu.
We head to the Social Media Lounge with The New Day and Kalya Braxton. They get asked if they will start selling pancake batter and they say if there is a demand then yes. Next, Big E is asked if winning the title’s tonight for a fifth time would be his best Christmas gift ever, to which E freaks out at the mention of the number 5 (an NXT reference). They say they won’t give their strategy and that’s why they’re multi-time Champions.

Back with the panel, they talk about the Fatal 4-Way match for the Tag Team Championship’s. Rusev and English in particular get a shout-out for coming from nothing. Otunga says they’re the wild card because nobody really knows them yet. Roberts reckons Rusev and English will win but Otunga and Renee both say The Uso’s will retain.
Zack Ryder Vs. Mojo Rawley
The action spills out of the ring early and Mojo rams Ryder into the barricade. Ryder then hits Mojo with a dropkick through the ropes before heading back into the ring. Rawley catches Ryder with a nice spinebuster and takes control of the pace.
— WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) December 18, 2017
Rawley splashes Zack in the corner and gets a two-count before slapping on a headlock. Zack fights out and heads to the top rope but Mojo catches him with a big forearm and Z falls to the floor. Rawley runs around ringside and hits Zack with a huge shoulder that sends him into the barricade. We take a short break.
We come back and Mojo has Zack in a headlock again. Mojo fights back and hits a jawbreaker, only to be clobbered by Mojo. Ryder is on the mat, struggling, and Mojo walks around shoving him and talking trash. Finally, Zack hits a forearm, then an elbow, and a slap. Zack hits a clothesline, then a running forearm in the corner. Ryder beats Mojo down in the corner before hitting the Broski Boot, then a second and gets a near-fall! Mojo hits a shoulder to Ryder’s knee, then a huge running punch for the win!
Winner: Mojo Rawley
After the match, Mojo gets into Ryder’s face. Good intensity from Rawley.

Back with the panel, they quickly discuss the match and are disappointed that Zack lost but impressed with Mojo. They do a final rundown of the entire PPV card. We get a lengthy video package for the huge tag team match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura. Roberts says he loves seeing Owens and Zayn, so he doesn’t want to see them go. Otunga says the pressure is on Owens and Zayn, if they lose their life’s work is meaningless. The odds are stacked against them though, because Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakmura are in their prime. Not to mention the wild card referees.
That’s it for the Clash of Champion’s Kick-off Show. Enjoy the main card!
