Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane, Chris and Kenny Bolin, and Big Vito.

Vito and Kenny Bolin open today’s show by addressing the heat between the two of them after they had a huge argument last week. During last week’s disagreement, Kenny made a disrespectful comment about Vito’s wife and Vito responded by wishing that Kenny would die, and he also threatened to go to Kenny’s home and physically assault him.

That attempted to make up since then but there were still some underlying issues and Kenny couldn’t get over the fact that Vito threatened him physically. Kenny informs that he’s in terrible physical shape currently, and he requires surgery soon which he might not even survive. He thought Vito took things too far by threatening to harm a physically disabled man.

Kenny’s son, Chris, points out that his father has been living this ‘Starmaker’ gimmick for as long as he can remember, and when he gets caught up in an argument he can go into promo mode and cross the line without even noticing. Chris believes his father, Kenny, went too far by disrespecting Vito’s wife and Kenny agrees, so he apologizes for that.

Kenny points out that he had heard from several people that Vito was terrible to deal with back in the day, but he gave this relationship a chance because Vito claimed to be a changed man. Unfortunately, within minutes of them speaking together Vito proved that nothing had changed, and he was still the same person he was all those years ago.

Russo warns Bolin to be careful who he gets his information from because he has been friends with Vito for over 25 year and he’s never seen this ‘hard to deal with’ side of him. Russo also tells Bolin that you can’t always believe what people say about each other because Jim Cornette has been saying a lot of terrible things about Russo for an awfully long time, and none of the stuff Cornette says is true.

Chris and Kenny both agree with that statement. Kenny says that his long friendship with Cornette recently came to an end and Cornette has since threatened to kill both Kenny and his son, Chris. Kenny says that maybe Russo had the right idea when he filed a restraining order against Cornette.

Just as everyone appears to be getting on the same page, Kenny points out that he heard Russo’s show from yesterday in which Russo said some unkind things about him. Russo said that he cringes every time Kenny takes credit for ‘making’ John Cena, and Kenny didn’t like those comments at all. Kenny says that he rode up and down the roads with Cena in his OVW days and he played a huge role in getting him to the position he’s in today.

Russo points out that Kenny should just say that he helped to make Cena, not that he’s 100% responsible for the success Cena has had. Russo points out that he wrote nearly every promo for The Rock and Steve Austin but he’d never take sole responsibility for their success. In fact, it makes Russo very angry when people inaccurately report that he says that.

In regards to those attitude era promos, Chris asks Russo how many of them were scripted word for word. Russo says it really depended on the individual personality that he was writing the promo for. For Austin and The Rock, Russo’d just tell them the general idea of what he wanted them to say during the promo. For Triple H, he’d script out the entire promo word for word.

That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
