It was announced earlier today that Chris Jericho will face off against Kenny Omega at the January 4th Wrestle Kingdom 12 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

According to Pro Wrestling Journalist Mike Killam, Chris Jericho and New Japan Pro Wrestling have been in talks for some time about a potential match at the upcoming Wrestle Kingdom event. Both parties reached a deal for a match back in August or shortly after.

As of this writing, there is no word if Jericho got the approval from Vince McMahon to appear at Wrestle Kingdom 12. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet mentioned on Twitter that Jericho did approach Triple H regarding NXT Superstars appearing on his cruiser but was turned down.  WWE doesn’t “play well with others.”

It also worth noting that the last time Jericho worked with WWE he was on a month-to-month contract with WWE, which is why he is allowed to show up on other promotions television.
