As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, Kane returned to WWE programming to assist Braun Strowman in his steel cage match against Roman Reigns. The Miz would then announce that Kane would be the 5th participant in his match against The Shield on Sunday at the WWE TLC event.
Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE went to great lengths to hide Kane’s return this week. None of the talent knew of his return and he didn’t fly directly into Portland, but but flew into a different airport and drove to Portland.
Kane had been resting up from various nagging injury and hasn’t been used on WWE programming since December of 2016. He has also been working at his Allstate insurance business in Knoxville and running for Mayor of Knox County while away from WWE.
As previously reported, Kane’s return is expected to be short-lived and probably only last around a month. There are rumors floating around online that he may be aligning himself with The Undertaker at Survivor Series, but those reports are false. The Undertaker is retired at this point in his life.
