DiBiase informs that he got so much heat for the now iconic skit which featured a child attempting to bounce a basketball. DiBiase informs that family was hand-picked and they rehearsed the whole thing prior to the show, unfortunately during the live show the kid still got scared and ran crying to his mom. DiBiase says that the guys in back loved it but he was dying to get out of the building because he had so much heat.
He says that he had no issue turning off the ‘Million Dollar Man’ character once he was out of the building or at home with his family. He can recall kids booing him at a show only to show up at his hotel hours later asking for autographs and he’d always sign for them. He does admit to getting caught up in the ‘wrestling lifestyle’ from time to time.
At one point he committed adultery and facing his wife during that time was the hardest thing he ever had to do. Looking back now he believes that was the best thing that ever happened to him, and Ross adds that it might have saved his life as well.
DiBiase mentions that he grew up in the business of professional wrestling due to his father’s connection to the business, but he was always shielded from the business by his father because his father didn’t want him to become a professional wrestler. It wasn’t the in-ring action that worried his father, it was the dangerous lifestyle.
