Ross also points out that he believes Kevin Owens is going to be a massively successful character babyface whenever WWE decides to pull the trigger on that. Powell agrees entirely and says that Owens is a great talker who knows how to get over. He’s also a family man who most fans can relate to. Powell thinks Owens’ eventual babyface run could mirror Daniel Bryan’s rise to prominence several years ago.
Ross suspects that it may have been too early to put the United States Championship on Baron Corbin, but he’s intrigued to see how Corbin’s Title run plays out nonetheless. He assumes that WWE intends to get A.J. Styles back into the WWE Title picture moving forward and Powell agrees. Powell continues to hold out hope that WWE’s long term plan is to get the WWE Title on Styles, which will lead to Styles versus Nakamura for the WWE Title at WrestleMania.
Ross feels that Nakamura still hasn’t really connected with mainstream fans, and he’s not sure why. Powell agrees and says that he was initially captivated by Nakamura by simply watching some of his incredible matches from NJPW. He suspects that if WWE would just allow Nakamura to go out and tear it up in the ring with a couple of opponents who he has chemistry with, fans would quickly get behind him.
