Braun Strowman v. Brock Lesnar
Shockingly enough, we are getting three back-to-back title defenses from Lesnar, which is a shocking but welcome sight. Come No Mercy in September, Strowman and Lesnar will lock horns for the Universal Championship. It is going to be a physical fight. These two men will wage war in that ring.
Lesnar has had a pretty solid 2017, despite a lackluster 2016. His match with Goldberg was booked to perfection, his match with Samoa Joe was undeniably excellent, and the Fatal Four-Way at Summerslam was a car crash in the best sense of the word. There’s no reason to expect anything less from his next title defense.
Not many people will be betting on Strowman, but I think there’ a very real chance that he dethrones Lesnar. Will he? That remains to be seen, but the match will be one worth watching.
Kevin Owens v. Shane McMahon
Remember when people were a bit hesitant about the AJ Styles – Shane McMahon match? Do you also remember how great of a match it turned out to be? Now it seems that the Commissioner has beef with another superstar, and this one is more violent and sadistic than AJ Styles.
Following a few controversial endings in the last few US Championship matches, Owens has his sights set on a new target: Shane McMahon. McMahon said that Kevin Owens would not be getting another shot at the US title as long as AJ Styles was champion, and he inserted himself into the match even after he agreed to let Owens pick the referee. Both men are obviously wrong here, so they will settle their business in a grudge match or something.
While Styles – McMahon was a technical match, I feel that Owens – McMahon will be balls-to-the-wall action. It will be the type of match that put Shane on the map: a violent spotfest. The match probably isn’t happening immediately, but when it does, it will be worth watching.
