Russo is joined on today’s show by Big Vito.
Russo says one of the biggest issues in the wrestling business today is the ‘Good ol’ Boy Network’. He uses that term to refer to the nepotism that exists in the business, and he says that problem is eating the business alive from the inside out. Nepotism is based on favour granted to relatives and friends in a certain field, and Russo believes this is killing the wrestling business right now.
One key area where this problem exists is in NXT. Russo says that WWE’s Performance Centre is supposed to employ the best trainers in the world, but for some reason when these talents come up to the main roster, they still aren’t ready. Russo doesn’t understand the concept of not hiring the best individuals available for the job, but there’s no doubt in his mind that Triple H is hiring ‘Yes men’ because he wants people who will always agree with him.
Russo recalls Triple H hiring a current NXT trainer who Russo spoke to shortly after their hiring. This trainer spoke very poorly of Bill DeMott (former NXT trainer), and within weeks after that discussion DeMott was released. Russo doesn’t think this was a coincidence.
