Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.
Russo says he’s sorry, but Smackdown Live ‘sucked’ this week. Whether you like him or not, you can’t deny the fact that this simply wasn’t a good show, especially from a writer’s perspective. He apologizes to his old friend Brian James who is lead writer on Smackdown now but James is a wrestling guy, and while this show might be good from a wrestler’s perspective, it’s not good from a writer’s perspective.
He says that you have to be an absolute ‘full blown mark’ to watch this show. It doesn’t matter how terrible the shows are, if you’re a mark you’re going to watch it anyways. Russo says that his San Francisco Giants are absolutely terrible this year, so guess what? He doesn’t watch it anymore! The same thing goes for wrestling, and if the product is bad, people are going to turn it off.
Russo says he was happy to see Chris Jericho return on the show. Jericho is a professional who always delivers on the mic and in the ring, so it’s always nice to see him return to WWE. However, that’s where the positives stopped on this week’s show.
