Jericho is joined on today’s show by Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.
Jericho and Meltzer discussed Chris Benoit’s in-ring wrestling career during this show. This discussion was not meant to glorify or erase the despicable acts that defined the last days of Benoit’s life, they just wanted to present facts about Benoit’s wrestling career.
Meltzer says that it’s hard to believe that unthinkable tragedy happened ten years ago. Since that time, he has had a hard time watching Benoit matches, but he recently saw one while in Japan. He says he was blown away by how good Benoit was in this match, and although he knew Benoit was good, being away from Benoit’s matches for the last ten years almost made him forgot just HOW good Benoit was.
Jericho agrees and says much like Eddie Guerrero, Benoit obsessed over perfection. Jericho recalls having a slight hiccup during one of their matches many years ago, and after the show he found Benoit in a corner of the backstage area doing 500 squats as he obsessed over how unprofessional of him it was to make an error in the ring.
