Superstars Who Have Thrived Through The Brand Split A Year Ago

The Miz

The Miz had a career defining year in 2016. He put on fantastic matches and electrified on the microphone week in week out. The night after Wrestlemania 32 kicked off a stretch of fantastic matches and stories for the Miz. He brought the Intercontinental Championship back to relevancy and then the brand split happened. The Miz took what quite simply is his Intercontinental championship to the blue brand and has created consistent and fantastic magic.

The Miz’s scathing and passionate promo’s on both Talking Smack and Smackdown Live were the best part of WWE programming on a weekly basis. His storyline with Dolph Ziggler was immense. As well as his feud with John Cena. On top of this his love and passion for the IC title only made his time on Smackdown Live better. Throw in an immensely improved in ring game and a character with purpose and direction which has the added bonus of Maryse, you have one of 2016’s very best superstars. This has been and currently is transitioning through 2017.

It is easy to see just how much The Miz has taken hold of the opportunities he has been given. Talking Smack was The Miz’s launching pad and his show.  The less crowded show and the more time to highlight his ability and the IC title has aided the Miz massively. Now on RAW, The Miz still is managing to make the IC Title WWE’s most prestigious at times. The brand split made it 1 mid card championship per show and The Miz took and is taking that ball and running as far as he possibly can and due to the brand split and his hard work will go down as the greatest Intercontinental Champion of at least the 2010’s.
