Russo opens today’s show by saying that five days of wrestling talk each week is way too much for him. Professional wrestling just isn’t as good as it used to be, and there’s never anything to talk about after he sits through three hours of RAW and two hours of Smackdown Live.

He says that he went and saw ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ this past week because for as long as he can remember he has been a fan of that film franchise. He actually remembers watching the first movie in 1967, and being instantly hooked on the franchise ever since that day. When they rebooted the franchise several years ago he was ready to rip it because it was new and he didn’t think it could live up to the original franchise, but it absolutely has.

Russo points out that just like the Planet of the Apes series, everything needs to evolve. If the apes in this most recent movie looked like the ones in the original film from 1967, he’d laugh at it. Professional wrestling, much like the Planet of the Apes movies, needs to evolve, but instead it’s devolving into the product we see on our television each week.
