Gilbertti does admit that people often cry after they feel like they’ve accomplished something, and this was certainly the culmination of a lifelong goal for Owens. Russo says that writers wrote that script, so he questions what Owens accomplished? Disco says the goal of any wrestler who has worked for years is to get to WWE and win the WWE Championship, and Owens was able to achieve that goal.
Russo says that he didn’t cry when he won the WCW World Championship and David Arquette didn’t cry when he won either. Gilbertti says of course Russo didn’t cry when he won because he booked that entire ‘terrible’ angle.
