Russo points out that WWE told their audience early on that Roman Reigns wasn’t going to be on the show, and once Apollo Crews showed up to challenge Braun Strowman a lot of viewers probably turned off the show. Reigns showed up in the last few minutes, but by that point they probably lost the majority of their audience. They needed to tease Reigns’ potential arrival at some point in the show to hook viewers.
Russo says he saw a few highlights of the new Kevin Owens documentary and he was shocked with what he saw. The documentary follows Owens on the night that he captured the WWE Universal Championship, and it featured Owens crying backstage with Sami Zayn and telling Zayn, “This is for both of us”.
Russo says that they were reacting as if they were a part of a major sports team who captured their respective Championship. He says that wrestling is fake, and people are booked to win these matches so there’s no reason to be getting emotional. He doubts that Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior were crying backstage after Warrior won the WWE Championship for the first time.
