Taz opens today’s show speaking about last night’s Extreme Rules PPV.
Taz believes that WWE really needs to consider changing the name of this PPV moving forward. He’s completely fine with the fact that we aren’t going to see blood and he’s fully aware that this isn’t ECW from 1996, but with a name like ‘Extreme Rules’ fans are going to expect some form of brutality.
He assumes that the ‘Kendo Stick on a Pole’ match between Bayley and Alexa Bliss was cut short. Almost right after the match began those women went after the pole and it came down much quicker than Taz anticipated. The match ran just over five minutes long, and came off like something we’d see on RAW rather than the payoff match at a PPV.
He also points out that if you’re entering a match where you know you’ll probably be hit with a kendo stick, wouldn’t you want to wear more protecting ring gear? Both these women came out in their regular gear with very little protection from the kendo stick. That didn’t make much sense to Taz.
A listener calls into the show and says he was shocked by Samoa Joe’s win last night, but he doesn’t think Joe will emerge victorious from his match against Lesnar next month. Taz doesn’t think Joe will defeat Lesnar either, but he also doesn’t think that a loss against Lesnar will hurt Joe. Joe is a credible threat to Lesnar in the ring and is more than capable of holding his own in promo segments against Heyman, so Taz thinks this will be a fun program.
