Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of WWE Extreme Rules 2017!

Let’s start at the top for a change: the Kick-Off show begins at 7:00 PM EST, and the main show starts at 8 PM. The Kick-Off show will see another rematch between Kalisto and Apollo Crews, with Titus O’Neil in Apollo’s corner. Originally the pre-show match was supposed to be the mixed tag match but it was changed just today. So join us for the Kick-Off show and get the results of this match and the rundown of the entire card.

Two tag team matches take place on the main card tonight, one of which is The Hardy Boyz Vs Sheamus & Cesaro for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships. This match will take place inside of a steel cage and the stipulation is fitting because things have gotten personal between the two teams. The other match is the mixed tag team match with Rich Swann & Sasha Banks against Noam Dar and Alicia Fox. This match was on the pre-show but was moved to the main card, as far as I can tell. The match doesn’t really have a stipulation, besides the genders, but it will look to settle the score once and for all between Noam Dar, Alicia Fox, and Rich Swann.

Dean Ambrose puts his Intercontinental Championship on the line against The Miz on tonight’s show. This match is kind of the opposite of every other on the card tonight, as Dean Ambrose will lose his title if he gets disqualified against Miz. This stipulation was put in place because The Miz claims Ambrose cannot win matches without getting crazy, and also to differentiate it from the rest of the card. The odds are already stacked against Ambrose, but there is a strong chance Elias Samson may interfere and attack The Miz – reflecting his “eye for an eye” lyric on Raw this past week. Let us know who you think will walk out with the gold!

Speaking of gold, Neville stands a strong chance of losing his tonight, as he faces Austin Aries in a submission match. This is the third PPV in a row that Neville and Aries will have gone toe-to-toe and it seems like the chances of Neville retaining are super slim. Aries has been run through the gauntlet time and time again by Neville and TJP, but tonight the odds actually favour him, and the only way to keep things going is for Aries to grab a win against the King of the Cruiserweights.

Alexa Bliss battles Bayley in a Kendo Stick-On-A-Pole match, following one of the worst WWE TV segments in recent memory. Last Monday, Bliss gave us a Bayley, This Is Your Life segment, but what transpired was a lot more like Jerry Springer than The Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection. This left us less-than-excited for the title match tonight, especially considering the gimmick of the match means that there won’t be any use of the Kendo Stick for the majority of the match. I expect this match to be as good as it could be, simply because of how good Bayley and Alexa are, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bayley take the win!

The main event tonight is the first-ever Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way between Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns.

Kick-Off Show

The Extreme Rules Kick-Off show begins with the panel of Renee Young, Sam Roberts, and David Otunga. The panel talk about the level of violence we will see tonight, saying it won’t be for the faint of heart.

We cut to Charly Caruso in the Social Media Lounge, before taking a look at the Intercontinental Championship match between Dean Ambrose and The Miz. Sam Roberts says The Miz isn’t mad at Ambrose, or pulling a trick, he’s simply here to win the IC title. Otunga says that The Miz isn’t the fastest, strongest, the best-looking, or even the biggest movie star in WWE, so he has to do the smart thing and he’s great at finding new ways to win. Renee asks if Ambrose has been a good IC Champion and Roberts says it depends on tonight. They quickly talk about how important Maryse has been in revitalising the career of Miz. Renee predicts that Dean Ambrose will beat The Miz tonight, undoubtedly. Otunga says he just wants to see Ambrose go crazy, regardless of the outcome. Roberts calls The Miz the most strategic man on the roster, and he thinks he’ll outsmart Dean.

Still to come, Kalisto Vs. Apollo Crews. Next we take a look at Bayley Vs. Alexa Bliss for the Women’s Championship.

After the video package, Nia Jax has joined the panel. Nia is fairly non-kayfabe, as she smiles and jokes, and even calls Alexa her best friend. She says it would take a miracle for Bayley to win tonight. Roberts says it was extreme when Alexa used the Kendo Stick on Bayley but Nia says that wasn’t extreme to her or Alexa. Nia says that we’re so over the whole, Bayley’s dreams thing. Roberts mentions the Raw segment last week, to which Jax says it proved that Alexa already has Bayley beaten. Nia says that she wants Alexa to win, also because she will be next in line. No matter who wins, they’re just holding that title warm for her.

.@DavidOtunga: What would it take for @itsBayleyWWE to win the match?@NiaJaxWWE: A MIRACLE! #ExtremeRules pic.twitter.com/jaxuAKtYWk

— WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) June 4, 2017

The next match is Austin Aries Vs. Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship. David Otunga says that Neville has proven again and again why he is The King and tonight will be Austin Aries’ Last Chancery, to win the title. Roberts says that as awesome as 205 Live is, we focus entirely on the jumping but never on the submissions. The WWE Universe knows that the cruiserweights are capable of both. Roberts says he wants Aries to win but he doesn’t think it’s possible, Otunga agrees.

The panel start discussing the mixed tag team match. Sam Roberts questions why Sasha Banks has involved herself in all of this when she should be up there with Alexa and Bayley. David Otunga jokes that Noam Dar and Alicia Fox have no chance whatsoever of winning and Sam agrees, referring to Sasha and Rich as the “La La Land” of WWE. They all laugh and joker about Alicia and Noam’s relationship before moving on.

Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy have joined Charly Caruso in the Social Media Lounge. Charly says that it’s fitting she has Team Extreme in the media lounge tonight. She asks how they’re feeling and Matt says they are ready, cage matches are serious but they’re good to go. The first question asks why they came back to WWE, to which Matt says the timing was right. He says they were at the right place in their lives and they done everything. Jeff says he promised fans he would be back in 2009 and here he is, ready to finish things where they began. The second question asks why they went for a cage match, to which Matt says they’ve already beaten them in a ladder match and a regular match, so tonight is the end. Jeff says cages are fun and we might see a big Swanton Bomb! The final question asks them to send a message to Sheamus and Ceasaro, to which Matt reiterates that this will be the end of the feud. Jeff jokes that he hopes to leave with all his teeth.

“We’re the most EXHILARATING tag team in history! @MATTHARDYBRAND @JEFFHARDYBRAND #ExtremeRules pic.twitter.com/toAVmTIKw4

— WWE (@WWE) June 4, 2017

David Otunga says he thinks The Hardy Boyz have a plan in place, otherwise they wouldn’t have chosen a cage match. Sam Roberts says that The Hardy Boyz have not lost a match since returning to WWE and so the time is nigh. Otunga disagrees and says Matt and Jeff have a plan, which Renee agrees with. Time for some action!

Kalisto Vs. Apollo Crews W/Titus O’Neil

The bell rings and Apollo goes behind Kalisto with a waistlock takedown. Kalisto reverses to a wristlock but Crews shoots him off and Kalisto hits a wheelbarrow arm drag. Crews falls out of the ring and starts to confer with Titus O’Neil at ringside. Back inside the ring, they lock-up again and Kalisto goes behind this time, Apollo reverses with a headlock takeover but the Luchador slips out of the headlock.

Is this a sign that @KalistoWWE can send The #TitusBrand into bankruptcy?! @ApolloCrews @TitusONeilWWE #ExtremeRules pic.twitter.com/HmRDnZoYEo

— WWE (@WWE) June 4, 2017

Kalisto grabs a headlock but Apollo throws him off. Kalisto does a handstand walk and flips into a headscissors, follows it up with a tilt-a-whirl headscissor and a springboard Senton Atomico! Kalisto charges into a Gallon Throw but springboards off the ropes, only for Crews to catch him with a kick on the way down and lay him out as we take a break.

We return to see Kalisto in a delayed vertical suplex. Apollo poses with Titus after the impressive move. Apollo grinds Kalisto down with a front facelock. Kalisto slowly fights to his feet, avoids a body slam and looks for the schoolboy but Crews kicks-out! Apollo clobbers him with a lariat for a nearfall of his own! Back to the grounded front facelock, the luchador makes his feet, hamstring kicks, sunset flip gets two and Apollo runs him over with a back elbow for a nearfall as Titus barks instructions.

Picking him up, Kalisto responds with more kicks, jawbreaker, duck a lariat, tornillo! Matrix backflip, crescent kick, HEADSCISSORS DRIVER! NOT ENOUGH! Lying in wait, Crews blocks the Salida del Sol, Kalisto looks for a moonsault, gets caught and Apollo looks for a suplex, Kalisto reverses to a small package but only a near-fall.

.@KalistoWWE is definitely FIRED UP! @ApolloCrews #ExtremeRules @TitusONeilWWE pic.twitter.com/WEXDji3jw8

— WWE (@WWE) June 4, 2017

More kicks from Kalisto, then he hits the ropes and lands a huge tilt-a-whirl DDT for a near-fall! Kalisto to the apron and a springboard crossbody but Crews catches him into a Samoan drop! Rolls him over, standing shooting star press from Apollo but he kicks out! Titus on the apron shouting, Crews comes over to tell him he did what he asked, what else does he want? Kalisto comes from behind, grabs Apollo, runs up Titus and hits Salida del Sol for the win!

Winner: Kalisto

That was easily the best match these two have had so far, really solid stuff. Titus and Apollo might actually be working!

We reconvene with the panel to discuss the main event, Fatal 5-Way and Kurt Angle has joined the team. Angle talks about how incredible the roster is right now, and how insane it is that we have 5-6 top guys who could all be legit contenders to Brock. Angle then talks about the Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, and says he is by far the most dominant man he’s ever stepped in the ring with. Angle predicts that Samoa Joe will walk out as the new number one contender tonight, because he thinks Joe is amazing and his time is now.

Miz quickly fights up and whips him off, but Ambrose shoulder blocks him down. They lock hands, but Ambrose kicks him and wrenches the arm into a hammerlock. Miz twists out, but Ambrose quickly comes back with him. The commentators wish Harley Race well on his recently broken legs. Miz shoves Ambrose, and Ambrose punches him back to the corner. The referee backs him up, and Ambrose obliges. Miz slaps him in the face, so Ambrose wildly punches him to the corner again. The referee backs him up and warns that he could be disqualified, which would cost him the match.

Ambrose chops away at him and takes him down with a spinning back elbow before clotheslining him over the top rope. Ambrose gets a head of steam and wipes him out with a suicide dive. Ambrose shoves him into the barricade and looks conflicted like he wants to do more. Miz shoves him, but Ambrose gets away. Ambrose gets in the ring to break the count. Ambrose grabs a chair, but he doesn’t act. Miz then takes him down on the floor with a big boot. Maryse distracts the referee, and Miz picks up the chair. Ambrose kicks him and grabs the chair, but the referee stops him. Ambrose gets him in the ring and pulls the hair. Miz goes to the apron and pulls him onto it to give him a DDT. Miz rolls him into the ring and picks up a two count.

Miz digs his knee into his back before ripping at the face and applying a chin lock. Ambrose fights up and punches out. They trade punches with Ambrose coming out on top. Miz punches him back and counters a Lunatic Lariat before hitting the Reality Check for a near fall. Miz chokes him on the ropes before splashing him against it. Ambrose hits a running forearm and tries for a bulldog, but Miz shoves him off. Ambrose comes back with a roll-up for a two count. Ambrose quickly follows up with a swinging neckbreaker for another near fall. Dueling chants for both guys fire up. Ambrose goes to the top rope and leaps over a charging Miz. Ambrose tweaks his knee upon landing and is limping. Miz quickly goes to work on the knee. Miz charges, but Ambrose counters into a sunset flip. Miz rolls out of that and applies the Figure Four Leglock to the hurt knee. Ambrose screams in pain, but he eventually gets to the bottom rope. Ambrose counters a Figure Four attempt into an inside cradle for a two count.

Miz takes advantage of the confusion to hit Bryan’s Busaiku Knee Kick for a near fall. Miz starts kicking the chest with yes Kicks, or It Kicks as Corey aptly said they should be called, but Ambrose counters into a Figure Four Leglock. Miz screams in pain while Ambrose cinches it in. Miz eventually makes his way to the bottom rope. Miz tries for a Skull Crushing Finale, but Ambrose counters into a roll-up. Both men are hobbling. Miz punches him, but Ambrose takes him down with a Lunatic Lariat.

Maryse gets on the apron to distract the referee. Ambrose goes for Dirty Deeds, but he gets pushed off almost into Maryse. Miz charges and almost hits his wife. Miz screams at Maryse to slap him, and she does in full sight of the referee. The referee thinks about disqualifying Ambrose, but he knows what Maryse is up to and ejects her. Maryse comes back, and Miz shoves Ambrose into the referee. John Cone, the referee, thinks Ambrose did that on purpose, but Ambrose insists he was pushed into him. Miz takes advantage of this distraction to hit the Skull Crushing Finale to become a 7-time WWE Intercontinental Champion!

We get a promo for the SmackDown-exclusive PPV Money In The Bank, which will feature two matches of the same name. We see Charly Caruso backstage and she introduces Bayley. Charly asks Bayley what she has to say about everyone thinking she can’t get extreme. Bayley says Alexa talks a lot, she proved that last week with the terrible segment on Raw. Bayley says she’s been watching Tommy Dreamer, Sandman and Steve Blackman, learning how to swing that Kendo Stick. She also watched Wonder Woman and she couldn’t help but feel empowered and inspired and it reminded her why she came to WWE. She didn’t come to hurt people but she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get payback and regain the Women’s Championship.

Mixed Tag Team Match

WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Kendo Stick-On-A-Pole Match

Bayley chases Alexa around the ring before they go back inside and Alexa begs her not to hit her. Bayley very slowly lifts the Stick above her but Alexa tackles Bayley and grabs the Stick for herself. Alexa goes to work, laying shot after shot into the back of Bayley.

Steel Cage Match

(C) The Hardy Boyz Vs. Sheamus & Cesaro

Loud “DELETE” chants as the bell rings. Sheamus and Cesaro immediately turn and start climbing the cage but Matt and Jeff pull them back down into the cage. Anarchy ensues for a few minutes as Sheamus and Cesaro try to escape and continuously get stopped.

Jeff hits the crotch leg drop on Sheamus, then throws him into the cafe. Cesaro then tosses Matt Hardy into the cage, and takes the fight to Jeff. Sheamus hits an Irish Curse Backbreaker on Jeff. Sheamus punches Matt before throwing him headfirst into the cage. Again Sheamus and Cesaro look to escape but are pulled back down into the ring. Sheamus and Cesaro whip the Hardy’s towards each other but Matt reverses, meaning Jeff and Cesaro run into each other.

Sheamus tries to escape but Jeff crotches him on the top rope. Matt and Jeff place Sheamus and Cesaro against the cage and slam their heads repeatedly before trading opponents and hitting stereo dropkicks. Sheamus and Cesaro are still between the ropes and the cage, and Jeff hits Poetry In Motion on both of them. Matt and Jeff start climbing up but Sheamus and Cesaro eventually climb up and pull them back. Jeff and Cesaro stand atop the top rope and Sheamus grabs Jeff and lands a powerbomb but Jeff brought Cesaro down with him. All three men are down and Matt hits an elbow drop on Cesaro from the top rope.

Matt throws Sheamus into the cage again. Matt climbs to the top of the cage but Cesaro climbs up and pulls him down onto Sheamus’ shoudlers, who hits a running senton. The door of the cage is opened and Sheamus tries to walk out but Matt grabs his leg. Sheamus and Cesaro start beating on Matt, they whip him off the ropes, lift him up high and run him into the cage.

They look to do the same to Jeff but he grabs onto the cage and starts climbing. Cesaro grabs his leg and holds him there. Matt and Sheamus start fighting as Jeff is pulled down. Sheamus looks for a Brogue Kick but Jeff ducks, grabs Cesaro and throws him into the cage. Sheamus grabs Jeff but the Enigmatic Enigma hits an enziguiri and Sheamus turns into Matt, who catches him for a tornado DDT. Both Hardy’s climb up the cage and get onto the top before Sheamus and Cesaro join them. Jeff gets a quarter way down the outside but Cesaro holds him by the arm. Jeff punches Cesaro and falls to the floor! Now Matt is facing both Sheamus and Cesaro by himself.

Cesaro climbs up and hits him with an uppercut as he transitions to the outside of the cage. Sheamus climbs up and grabs Matt, and hits White Noise from the top rope. The commentators confirm that the winner of the next match will face Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire. Bray Wyatt comes out first for the huge Fatal 5-Way match.

Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match

The Winner Becomes Numbers One Contender

Bray Wyatt Vs. Seth Rollins Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. Roman Reigns Vs. Finn Balor

The bell rings and Bray Wyatt goes after Bray Wyatt, while Rollins goes after Samoa Joe. Roman stands in the ring and watches the chaos unfold. They all spill to the outside and still Roman watches.

Bray comes back inside and takes the fight to Roman but gets punches into the corner. Roman hits a Samoan drop on Bray, then Samoa Joe appears and tries to land one of his own but Roman reverses and lands a Samoan drop. Balor enters and attacks Roman. Reigns looks for the Samoan drop again but Balor climbs down and onto the apron. Balor looks for an enziguiri but Reigns blocks it and knocks Finn from the apron.
