Taz welcomes Mike Johnson from PWInsider to the show.
Johnson says that while there was some good wrestling on last night’s RAW, WWE failed to create interest in their programming moving forward, more specifically Extreme Rules this coming Sunday night. He says that last week’s RAW rating was not good, and WWE needs to find a way to bring those ratings back up before they go to the bargaining table to negotiate a new television deal.
Taz says that although there’s no denying that sinking ratings are bad, he doesn’t believe that ratings paint the entire picture. WWE’s revenues are soaring and they continue to do well with live shows. He also points out that with no off-season, it’s very difficult to keep the product red hot all year round. WWE produces so much content that sometimes it’s hard to blame them for a bad show.
Johnson informs that Tomassa Ciampa is going to be out of action for a while. As far as Johnson knows, Ciampa is in Alabama getting knee surgery. He had an ankle issue prior to the NXT Takeover event, and during the ladder match on that show he hurt his knee. Johnson points out that this is terrible timing, but Taz says that WWE will just pick up this push when Ciampa returns from injury.
