Edge and Christian open today’s show speaking about Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship win at Backlash. Edge says that this is a very good move from a business perspective, because India’s massive population is a target market for WWE right now, and having Mahal as Champion certainly helps their business interests there.
Christian also points out that WWE has done a great job of building Mahal as a legitimate heel, and WWE was in desperate need of a real heel. The Singh brothers are a nice addition to the overall package, and now it’s up to Mahal to make his Championship reign a memorable one. Everyone who has an issue with Mahal’s win should let this play out before being overly critical of it.
Edge and Christian welcome Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels to the show to discuss their epic match from WWF’s In Your House: Mind Games.
Foley informs that prior to this match, he and Michaels had never been in the ring together. They also weren’t working an angle and hadn’t gotten physical with each other at all in the build up to this match. For those reasons, Foley was always very proud of the match they were able to put together that evening.
