Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.
Lawler mentions that it has been 18 years since the untimely passing of Owen Hart. Of all the things Lawler has experienced during his 25-year career in WWE, one thing he’ll never forget is being at the arena that evening when Hart’s accident occurred.
Lawler informs that the stunt that ultimately cost Hart his life had been done as an entrance multiple times before in the wrestling business, and Lawler himself was lowered down from the ceiling for one of his matches in Memphis at one point. Unfortunately, Hart’s entrance went terribly wrong that evening.
The arena was blacked out during Hart’s entrance as a video played on the big screen but after Hart fell in the ring, Lawler immediately knew something was wrong. He whispered to Jim Ross that Hart had fell, and he quickly jumped into the ring to check on his friend.
As he sat there with Hart in the ring, he could literally see the blood rushing from Hart’s face and he knew that he was gone. Having known Hart for as long as Lawler did, it was a very emotional and difficult thing for him to have to watch his friend lie motionless in the middle of the ring.
