Page says that positive thinking can change just about any situation, and can mend nearly any fence. He always had issues with Ric Flair stemming from their time working together in WCW, but recently Page had had enough of it. He approached Flair at a signing they were both at in New Jersey. He put his hand out, re-introduced himself and told Flair he wanted to start over. Flair laughed, shook his hand and gave him a hug.
They later bonded again at RAW, when DDP’s wife was going through cancer treatments. Most recently they were both in the same hotel for WrestleMania weekend and they shared several discussions. They had dinner and drinks together.
He says that Ric Flair was a big part of his success and he wanted to make sure Flair knew that. Page recalls a phone conversation with Dusty Rhodes many years ago, and Rhodes yelled at him for not believing in his ability to become the World Champion. Rhodes told Page that he was in the wrong business if he didn’t believe he could be the Champion.
Page hung up the phone and wrote on a notepad, ” I will be Champion in the next 5 years.” Over 4 and a half years later, Page became World Champion and he thanked Flair so much for putting him over. During their last night in Orlando, Page told Flair that he had to go to bed because his fight was leaving at 7:30 AM. Flair had his jet and offered Page to fly with them since they were both going to Atlanta.
He even took Page out for supper and got him home in a limousine afterwards because it was Page’s birthday. Page says that this is a prime example of the fact that living positively can mend fences and lead to a terrific relationship.
