A listener writes into the show to open this week’s podcast, and asks Lawler to name his Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling. Lawler says that he’s going to add a fifth name, because he simply can’t limit his list to four names. He lists Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin and The Rock as the five faces he’d have on the Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling.
If he were to venture into the newer generation of professional wrestlers, he’d include John Cena in that list as well. He says that although some fans wouldn’t consider any of these performers to be one of the best technical wrestlers of all time, they are the most recognizable faces in the business and each of them transcended the wrestling business in one way or another.
On today’s show Lawler will discuss his appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman alongside Andy Kaufman on July 29th, 1982. TV Guide did a list of the Top 100 moments in the history of television recently, and his appearance on Letterman with Andy Kaufman was included in that list.
