He admits that there is heavy editing on the in-ring action, and sometimes huge spots get edited and the selling gets cut out. He understands that the show is only 60 minutes and they need to edit some things, but these matches mean a lot to him and selling big moves is very important.
Morrison feels like he has 100% creative control over what he does in Lucha Underground. He’s also confident in his ability to put together a great match now where as when he was younger, he needed guidance from agents and veterans within the business.
He says that he felt stifled creatively towards the end of his run in WWE, and that’s one of the reasons he left. He remembers pitching an idea to Vince McMahon for him to have a tanning bed match against Sheamus. McMahon laughed at the idea initially and seemed to liked it, but Morrison isn’t sure if McMahon took him seriously or not.
Morrison mentions that it’s been 14 years now since he started this journey in professional wrestling and he still feels like he’s in his prime. He feels great and thinks the best is yet to come in his career. He admits that he gets the itch to return to WWE every year around WrestleMania, and he doesn’t rule out a return to WWE after he shoots season 4 of Lucha Underground.
That sums up today’s episode of X-Pac 1, 2, 360. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
