Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Issues with Dave Meltzer, Jinder Mahal’s Undeserved Criticism, Backstage Incident at IMPACT, More!
Russo opens today’s show by saying that Brian ‘Road Dogg’ James tweeted him recently, voicing his displeasure towards Russo for his recent criticisms of RAW and Smackdown Live. James says that Russo’s criticism isn’t surprising because “…If you’re not with us, you have to throw rocks at us”.
Russo informs that he simply doesn’t like the product. He’s not taking shots at WWE because he’s no longer employed by them, rather he’s simply voicing his opinion. He stopped watching the show for a long time because he was no longer interested in it, but Glenn Gilbertti (Disco Inferno) stressed to him that his fans want to hear him talk about wrestling. This is the reason he decided to start covering the product again.
Russo comments on the rumoured backstage incident at IMPACT’s recent tapings, where Bob Ryder got into a dispute with Karen Jarrett over travel issues. Russo informs that he likes Ryder personally, but he thinks Ryder is misplaced professionally in IMPACT wrestling.
Ryder first got a job as TNA’s travel coordinator which he parlayed into a Vice Presidency role, and Russo thinks this is an issue. He says that Ryder used to be a dirt sheet writer and he’ll always be a dirt sheet writer at heart, which makes it tough to run a wrestling company well.
