Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Safety Concerns in WWE, Bray Wyatt Striving for More, Athleticism isn’t Everything, More!
Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane and Disco Inferno (Glenn Gilbertti).
Gilbertti talks about the increase in injuries in the professional wrestling business over the last few years, and he believes it’s all due to the increase in risk that performers are taking. Gilbertti believes that if there was a legitimate Commissioner in WWE, he/she would never allow their Superstars to take the risks that they’re taking currently.
Russo mentions that NJPW Superstar Shibata performed a shoot headbutt on his opponent in a match just a few days ago, and it resulted in Shibata suffering brain damage. As of right now, it looks as if Shibata’s headbutt may have cost him his career, and Gilbetti doesn’t understand the logic in that at all.
Gilbertti feels that the performers are going to continue upping the ante, by taking more and more risks in an attempt to ‘pop’ the live audience. In order to protect the safety of the performers, Gilbertti feels that WWE and other wrestling organizations are going to have to start fining and suspending talents who do not adhere to an established set of safety guidelines.
