Taz says he was surprised to see Jinder Mahal pick up the win on last night’s Smackdown Live, making him the number one contender for Randy Orton’s WWE Championship. Before the 6-Pack Challenge started he would have thought that either Dolph Ziggler or Luke Harper would have emerged victorious from this match.
He points out that when Mahal cut his promo at the end of the match, it was obvious that he has a lot of heat with the WWE Universe. This was not a heel who was looking to be ‘cool’, this was a heel who was looking for heat and he said all the right things. It’s obvious that WWE is going to walk a fine political line as they play up Mahal’s ethnicity, but Taz thinks it’s going to work great.
Taz is a big believer of ‘heat’, and he thinks that money is always made with the heel. Mahal looks great and Taz thinks WWE has only scratched the surface of what they can do with him as a heel. He adds that Mahal has the whole package because he’s a great worker, he looks great and he can talk on the mic. Because of this, Taz thinks WWE can make a lot of money with Mahal as a top heel.
A listener calls into the show and points out that Jinder Mahal has only won 36 of his last 42 matches, so he thinks it’s odd that he’s now the number one contender. Taz says that the company never looks at those stats because they mean nothing since the business is a complete work. Taz thinks Mahal is a credible worker in the ring, and this main event push is well deserved.
