Conversation with the Big Guy Recap – Simon Gotch’s Indie Booking Fee, Dillinger Debuts on Smackdown, Where’s Balor’s ‘Demon’? More!
Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Pat Buck.
Ryback starts today’s show by mentioning that WWE is now implementing stipulations into their performers’ contracts, which prevents them for working independent dates for a prolonged period of time after being released by WWE. In Ryback’s opinion, this is WWE’s way of lowering the performer’s value before they can really monetize their appearances on the indie scene.
Buck runs an indie promotion, and mentions that it’s becoming tougher and tougher to find good talent who are available to work his shows because WWE continues to sign up a lot of the great indie workers and leave them hanging in wrestling purgatory.
Some fans have asked Buck if he’d consider bringing recently released Simon Gotch in for one of his shows. Buck informs that Gotch’s rate is $1500 for an independent booking, and that’s a lot of money for an indie promoter. Most of the time he has to pay for the talent’s flights and hotels as well, which can significantly increase the overall price of booking a talent.
