Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.
Russo addresses the opinion that WWE should be trying to accommodate their hardcore fanbase. He says that WWE knows that those fans are marks and they’re always going to watch the product, whether they agree with all the creative decisions or not. WWE needs to be listening to the mainstream fans because those are the people that they’re fighting to win back.
Lane plays an audio clip of a Wade Keller of PWTorch, who suggests that Cesaro and Sheamus are better workers than Enzo & Cass, and they’re going to appeal more to the mainstream fan. Russo thinks this is a completely asinine comment, given the amount of evidence we have which suggests the opposite. History has shown that entertainers always outdraw good in-ring workers. Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Randy Savage will always outdraw Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Kevin Owens.
Russo says that this statement is simply Keller’s opinion, and it’s not based in fact. He has no idea why Keller’s opinion matters to anybody because Keller has no resume in the business of professional wrestling.
