Simon Gotch Caused A Scene Backstage Before Being Released

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s installment of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Simon Gotch caused a scene before SmackDown Live on April 4 on Orlando, Florida, which was the day before the company announced they had come to terms on a mutually agreed upon release.

Gotch accidentally tipped over his own chair in catering and was furious after he fell down. The fall itself was bad enough for him to cause a scene.

“Regarding Gotch and his being let go, while this may have nothing to do with it, the day before he was let go, there was an incident with him in catering before the 4/4 Smackdown show in Orlando where he accidentally tipped over his chair and got mad when he went down, which was bad enough that it was a scene. The fact that English, not him, did the job to Jordan & Gable, even though it was a tag match, later that night would indicate to me that his being let go was not something planned out in advance, or he’d have been the one to lose the fall.”

Gotch responded to the report with the following tweet:
