Russo says that he loves Kurt Angle, but he’s sick and tired of these backstage segments where the authority figures book matches. One or two wrestlers run up to the GM to spout their distress, and then the GM swiftly makes a match for later in the show. Russo wonders why WWE can’t come up with a different way to shoot these segments, because this layout has been around for years and it’s stale.
Speaking about The New Day vs. The Revival, Russo says he didn’t care about the match because WWE didn’t give him a reason to care about the match. He wishes that WWE would have had a pre-tape before this match which would of told us who The Revival are, and where they came from. Instead, WWE’s audience is still left in the dark regarding these characters, and this is not a good thing.
He says that he’s happy for Neville right now, because he thought Neville was severely under-utilized for an awfully long time. On the other hand, Russo will never like Austin Aries due to their time working together in TNA. Aries was very arrogant when they worked together, and every time he sees Aries nowadays it makes him want to vomit.
Russo says the worst part of the show was the Kevin Owens’ backstage promo with Charly. It wasn’t bad because of Owens’ promo, it was bad because WWE was purposely cutting Charly’s breasts out of the shot. He doesn’t understand why WWE would shoot around the beauty of one of their backstage interviewers, but maybe that’s another telling sign of who’s watching today’s product.
