Jonathan Coachman announced on Twitter that he will no longer be covering WWE on ESPN after he had an exchange with Dave Meltzer. Meltzer called ESPN out for not covering stories such as the situation with Mauro Ranallo and JBL. Critics of ESPN’s TV coverage have pointed out that ESPN tends to stay away from stories that reflect negatively on WWE.
Coachman sent out the following Tweet announcing that he we done covering WWE, which was later deleted:
“After serious sole searching have decided that I will no longer be doing Off the Top Rope or WWE related content. Will leave to the pros.”
Here are several exchanges that Meltzer and Coachman had on Twitter:
ESPN gets chance after chance to show balls but this will be another time they're showing castration tendencies. https://t.co/nk9SREhSqi

Coachman would respond to Meltzer remarks with the following:
2 things: we don't report on rumors for any sport or company. And you getting "heat" for anything is laughable. https://t.co/9s4VK0fqLd

Reporting on a topic and actual details of a story two different things. Do you know how many this "story" came up at mania…zero.. https://t.co/FoPt1ER8Yq
— Jonathan Coachman (@TheCoachrules) April 7, 2017
Meltzer then responded:
Zero? It was a leading topic of conversation from people in the industry all weekend long. Has been for weeks. https://t.co/C3ghB1n9Qt

Coachman claims he's done covering WWE. Exactly how a media figure should react when a legit story involving a fellow announcer breaks.

Coachman responded with:
We have incredible vertical website. I am sure they will continue their fantastic coverage. Just not me. @WWEonESPN https://t.co/GwLD7MqU9o
