Welcome to SmackDown Live, the first post-WrestleMania SmackDown.
Randy Orton returns to SmackDown tonight as the WWE Champion, after defeating Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania. Even though he unleashed his new powers, Bray still lost to Orton in convincing fashion. However, the Eater or Worlds will undoubtedly be looking for revenge tonight.
What’s next for AJ Styles? That’s a pertinent question that will surely be revealed tonight, after beating Shane McMahon. Next week on Raw there will be a Superstar Shake-up, so there is a possibility that AJ will move to Monday Night Raw, as well as others. Although maybe AJ will get a chance to fight for the title tonight, given his track record.
Naomi won the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, in her hometown. Alexa Bliss had been the Women’s Champion for a long time, but now we have a babyface Champ who can feud with the likes of Carmella, Mickie James, etc. Maybe Bliss will look to get a rematch tonight or at BackLash, but I think it’s time for a new challenger to create an interesting feud.
Elsewhere we have Mojo Rawley, who will look to capitalise on his big Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale win. American Alpha and The Uso’s weren’t even featured on WrestleMania, so those four guys will be out to really prove themselves moving forward. Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin were bumped to the pre-show, and delivered a very forgettable match, so they too will have some proving to do. And last but not least, there is the chance of some big debuts from NXT. Most notably, Shinsuke Nakamura and D.I.Y seem the most likely to debut on the blue brand.
All that and more to look forward to on tonight’s SmackDown Live! What do you think will happen? Let us know in the comments, download the awesome (and free) Ringside News app, and enjoy the show!
