Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – WrestleMania Analysis, Undertaker’s Retirement, Jericho/Owens Fails to Deliver, More!
Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane. They will discuss Sunday night’s WrestleMania.
Russo thinks Mojo Rawley winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was a ‘total waste’ from both the company and Rawley’s individual perspectives. He understands the mainstream attention that comes from Gronk’s participation, but the company will never do anything with Rawley moving forward so that makes this win irrelevant.
He couldn’t believe that Dean Ambrose’s Intercontinental Championship match with Baron Corbin was moved to the Kickoff show. Ambrose was a WWE Champion as recently as the last year, and now he’s working Kickoff shows. Russo doesn’t understand that decline in position whatsoever.
Russo liked the match between Shane McMahon and A.J. Styles, but he felt that Styles gave McMahon far too much offence in this bout. He also thought it was strange that WWE decided to have this match open the show.
Lastly, he points out that when the referee got knocked out, trainers came to check on him but another referee didn’t come out from the back like we see in almost every other situation like this. That didn’t make any sense to him. Also, he questions why there was a referee involved at all in a non-sanctioned match.
